WORKSHOP 1+1=11 is a participative workshop where we teach and learn to / from the community to use low cost local material.

The workshop is part of “100 schools for refugee children” project started by EAHR in 2017. It will be a hands-on experience offering the possibility to directly engage with the EAHR team and Syrian refugees.

The project focuses on the expansion of the existing school facilities in order to increase the school attendance of syrian refugee children in Azraq village, outside of the Azraq refugee camp, today the second largest refugee camp in Jordan.
The project will be implemented in collaboration with The Syrian Fund and The South Azraq Women’s Association.

Interested participants are asked to fill out the form from the “enrolment section”. EAHR will assess each application and will select 20 candidates who will receive a confirmation mail by the 25th of may with all the required documents.

1+1=11 on-field workshop will offer the following activities:

  • Introduction to the Superadobe construction
  • Introduction to Compressed Earth Block construction
  • Participation in all the different phases of construction
  • Theory lectures about humanitarian architecture and debates

At the end of the workshop 5 people among the ones who gave the best contribution to the project will be selected and offered one month internship at EAHR headquarter office in Copenhagen.


Everybody can participate, no specific skills are required.
Please note that english will be the common language of the workshop and a basic knowledge is therefore required.


Participants can choose one of the following time frames according to their preferences. Each with a duration of 90 hours distributed over a period of 15 days.

The fees will co- finance the construction of the school facilities and will include:

  • Accommodation in shared room
  • 2 meals per day including water and tea
  • Transportation from/ to airport
  • Certificate of participation
  • EAHR T-Shirt

The fee will NOT include:
Flight ticket, visa and other personal expenses
