Classroom in Jordan

More Syrian refugee children are now out of school in the Middle East than last year. Today, Syrian refugee children in Jordan face a bleak educational present, and an uncertain future. With 73,000 registered school-aged children between 5-17 years old with the United Nations refugee agency in Jordan of whom did not receive a formal education in 2017, leaving them more vulnerable to child marriage and labour, Save the Children is warning taken from latest UNICEF reporting for July 2017.

This initiative addresses the school needs of vulnerable Refugee communities by providing them with tools and teaching them easily transferrable techniques of self-construction. Incorporating classrooms, vocational training centers, women and community centres, to demonstrate and break stereotypes about sustainable building and low-cost self-construction. Durable and versatile, these traditional materials can be produced on site, eliminating transportation costs, and has excellent insulation qualities. The scheme enables job creation, enhances gender equality and improves living conditions.
