Fundraising Intern for Emergency Architecture & Human rights 

 

ABOUT EAHR 

Emergency Architecture & Human Rights (EAHR) is a small organization in fast development, that since 2004 has been working with a combined architectural and social science perspective to solve humanitarian problems. Through an interdisciplinary approach, our international team is creating social activities as well as building for and with vulnerable communities around the globe, advocating for their human rights. We have been operating for three years from our hub in Copenhagen; the base of our advisory board and domestic employees, collaborators and volunteers. 

Both in Denmark and internationally, we develop workshops and social activities; hold academic conferences and lectures; train local communities in construction with sustainable and local materials; while principally designing and building architectural solutions that can create resilient societies, enabling people`s access to their human rights. We explore and work according to the UN’s declaration of human rights, the UN 17 sustainable goals, whilst also being aligned with the Core Humanitarian Standards. 

JOB DESCRIPTION 

We are looking for a fundraising intern who believes in our vision and who knows how to manage a broad range of communication, partnership and fundraising tasks in projects from end to end. At the moment EAHR’s fundraising strategy is based on private donors and a mixture of private and public funds. You will continue and further develop this strategy. 

We expect that you: 

  • Have experience recruiting and maintaining the relationships with funds and donors; 
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in Danish and English; 
  • Are willing to be part of the development of the organization’s potential; 
  • Are used to communicating complex topics in a clear and simple way to different target groups; and 
  • Have genuine interest in the humanitarian field. 

YOUR TASKS 

We will formulate your final role description together, so it both matches our needs and your wishes for professional development and work experience. We expect that your duties will mainly include: 

  • Writing applications and project descriptions to relevant funds; 
  • Fundraising for new projects, detailing previous project descriptions; 
  • Sharing the knowledge of EAHR methods externally; 
  • Being part of certain monitoring and evaluation (M&E) processes, like delivering progress reports to our funds; 
  • Helping to recruit and maintaining the relationships with private donors, companies, organizations, funds and other partners together with the rest of the team; 
  • Helping with administrative tasks related to the above; and  
  • Participating in team meetings.  

 DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES 

  • Are in the last year of university education, or recently graduated 
  • Studying towards or possess a degree in communication, journalism, economics, sales, social science or other relevant  
  • Results-oriented 
  • Outgoing and not afraid to develop contact to new people (face to face or over the phone), while being positive, honest, and having an open-mind towards other people 
  • Can work in a structured manor, either independently or in teams.  
  • You take initiative to learn new or unfamiliar methods used in our projects.

 The internship position is unpaid and can be either full-time or part-time, starting on January 2019 or as soon as possible. Maximum duration of internship is 6 months. Interviews will be held on an ongoing basis. As a student intern we will together plan the days and hours you can be here, so you are able to attend your classes and prepare for your exams.
